Could someone give me a hand with setting up the basic sidechain ducking (kick-to-bass line) compression in Live 7.
Thanks!

kick on one track (impulse, drum rack etc)
bass on another (vst)
drag across a compressor with the "kick reducer" preset on,
put this onto the bass track,
click the side chain button on the compressor, so that it lights up,
pull down the audio from tab (just underneath the side chain light)
choose the kick track!
obviously you need to record something with the bass note and kick,
i usually do the kick in the impulse and bass on any vst etc.
another important thing to remember...... for side chaining..... is that the bass works better with long continuous notes rather than short ones!
there is also however the older way without the new side chain feature,
which was originally done for live 6.
