DROOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOL!!!!The operating system emphasizes real-time performance with the ability to drop in and out of record on different beats, play multiple beats simultaneously, switch in and out of song mode, and much more, all without stopping play. Both MPC-style real time and XOX-style step recording are provided, and the 16 velocity- and pressure-sensitive pads—backlit for visual sequence animation—can be assigned to sounds, tunings, beats, pad mutes, or sequence steps.
Am I alone in my thinking that this is odd/cool move by Dave Smith in producing two seperate versions; an all digital version and one that features analog evolver type synth with more knobs?
No doubt the digital version will come in right at or under $1,000 while the analog enabled fellow fetches more machinedrum money, $1,500 or so.
They must have been poutting in some serious OT with this project. I can't wait. On Dave and Roger's repuation alone, I would buy this without even listening to a demo first.

I doubt it will go that low... In fact, I can see the big version of this one going for Poly Evolver Keyboard money, in the 2kUSD->2.5kUSD range.thelike5 wrote:No doubt the digital version will come in right at or under $1,000 while the analog enabled fellow fetches more machinedrum money, $1,500 or so.
Still, it may turn out to be the best beat box ever made!
When this was announced originally as the Boomchik, Dave Smith was quoted as saying he's doing the best he can to get the price below or around $1,000. I think that's the point with releasing both versions; to keep the digital version cost effective at $1,000 while the analog, Evolver esque featured version fetches a more "pro" price-point.

I definitely hear you on this, but the fact is still that it will have 16 FSRs, sliders , knobs and buttons, inputs and outputs with adcs and dacs - which when added up are quite expensive to integrate in industrial design. I guess time will tell.
Oh, and damn, the original mockups of the layout had 4x4 layout. I wonder how the 8x2 layout will change the feel of this. Thankfully the danish distros of DSI are cool cats with an ace showroom of their own.

well, actually it works out at 5 posts a day over a year and three quarters
And your logic is flawed because over that time I got involved in loads of political diatribes and would shoot off 30+ messages in the space of an hour .. that adds up quickly, but doesn't mean I spend all day here
