my first attempt at using ableton

Post by jontheman » Sat Dec 29, 2007 11:33 pm

so i just recently got into ableton and immediately wanted to create a mix of some sort. being for the most part a bedroom dj using turntables, my options were limited in mixing and remixing. but ableton opened up all the doors to the ideas i had in the back of my head.

to get on with it i created a 30 minute remix/mash-up mix titled Skar Talk (in reference to my alias DJ Skarface and the inspiration after seeing Girl Talk's live show). what i made didn't exactly come out like girl talk but i'm happy with the result. i made the mix using the very basics of ableton so its not that technical.

i'll definitely be coming around these forums to learn a lot more. any feedback on the mix would be greatly appreciated and also any ways to improve some issues i have with it as this is not a perfect mix at all. peace.

Hey,
That's pretty good for being your first attempt at using live. Did you use other software before to do similar stuff? goodjob

thanks, and to answer your question...sort of. i guess with the background in djing and experimenting with looping in sound forge (really old school cut and paste kind of thing), what i wanted to do just clicked with ableton. i hope to make better stuff in the future though. thx again for the reply.
