Latency/Lag Recording Live Audio to a Pre-recorded track

Post by PadraigO » Wed Jan 02, 2008 2:08 am

I'm using a G5 dual core/2G RAM w/ a Digi 002. I 'm trying to do a simple play along to pre-recorded audio. My Driver Error Comp is at 20.0. I've experimented with the bufferr as low as 64. Sample rate is 44.1. I still feel like it's a little behind (my new recording)

I'm recording into Arrange view if that counts for anything?

I still don't feel like my "lock" is the same as when I'm usuing protools. What is the key for getting the lowest latency? where can I go from here, IF there is a place to go?

I use a 1814 at home and it is incredible what it can do with latency. For ex., 2 tracks of vocals, recorded on etoday the other yesterday, on two separate tracks routed to the same return track in Live, same mic, same input on the 1814, same vocal line. They don't play in sync by large chunks. It does not help moving them on the same or other tracks. Go figure.
