I am new to Live (using 6.10), been using Cubase for the last 3 years, so I'd like some help with a simple test regarding Live's "Render to disc" option. If some people could please do the following test and give me the results, I would be TRULY grateful:
1)Open a new, clean set
2)Place a small, stereo sample in a track, in the arrangement view. Make sure that WARP, FADE, HI-Q, groove etc are all turned off. The sample needs to get played "as-is".
3)Select the sample, and set time = sample length. I think setting the loop braces has the same effect.
4)Render the sample to disc: settings for sample rate and bit depth must be the same as the original sample.
5)Open up the resulting file, and the original sample in Wavelab, Soundforge, or something similar, and do a file compare.
Now in theory, those 2 files SHOULD be identical. This seems like an extremely simple bass-line for sound recording quality - the ability to put something into, and out of the software without it being altered. I have NEVER managed to achieve this with Live, but it is easy with Cubase.
Please let me know what your outcome is, and include the version that you used.
THANKS A LOT
