Newbie trying to create audio loops

Post by praveshp » Mon Jan 14, 2008 1:12 am

Hi,

I bought myself KeyRig 49 and am using Ableton Live Lite 6. Going throught the lessons for 'creating new audio loops' page 8 of 12. lesson tells me how to create loop - everything works OK until it asks me to press keys on my MIDI keyboard or says som, ething in the microphone. There is little movement on meter whe I 'arm' the channel but neither m/phone nor KeyRig 49 produce anything. Thought I needed to crop an instruent but Live would only allow audio to be dropped. Does audio stuff pay like the instruments!! My instruments work OK as does MIDI but I get no jow with Audio.

Any thoughts!!

Generally, no. Audio tracks are not instruments, they are like Cassette tapes.

Audio channels play back audio (sound).
MIDI channels play back MIDI (notes).

to do what you want, look up "MIDI Learn", or use Sampler.

Drop "Sampler" on a MIDI channel, and load a sample into it. Now you can play back audio (from a mic, for instance) from your keyboard (keyrig49).

That keyrig49 is just a controller, right? It'll only make notes... not sound.
