time for new monitors, what about the RP8's

High everybody!

I was wondering if I could get some feedback on the rp8's. I currently had a pair of Alesis MK2's. Though they where great they had no mids and it messed up my mixes. They where also on long term lone from a friend.

Any advise on these or alternative monitors?

I have RP8s and I really like them. I have been going around and around trying to get my bass response issues cleared up lately. I found out just last night that the problem was. I thought was due to them actually being just shade bass deficient and was actually the batch I had been using to "quick master" screwing up the mix. I fully realize that KRK RP8s are not a 600 ea., all the details, monitor, but for the money they are hands down the toughest and best monitor available. If you need to push em like I do from time to time, they can handle it no problem. They sound killer too.

yeah they excited me whn I heard them in guitar center, but listening to monitors in GC is like looking at jewlry at a high end jewelry store.

The enviorment is tailored to sell product. The alesis I have kept going through speakers.

save your money and buy dynaudio bm5A's.
if want everything you are missing with monitors. add a rp10s for a ridiculous system at a good price.
well worth the wait.

I went with JBL LSR-6328, I found the sound to be very good even at extended recording sessions. The analog and digital connections, automatic calibration system, software operated (or not, your choice), these things are quite bad ass if you need lots of options in your setup and they 'sound' great.

I have the RP8's as well and really like them. I moved from passive Tannoy Reveals to the Rocket KRK RP8's and have not looked back. Great monitors for the price!

KRK is crap. buy some quality brand 2nd hand instead..

But yeah, thats what I mean..or my 2cents if you like..

My studio mate got a set of krks. Its like maudio stuf, its cheep but its crap.. If you are on a low budget, theres better brands in the same price range. Dont remember right now, but there are other threds about this which gives you the clues. ..blue sky perhaps? Anyway, im not even touching that level.

if you go up to genelec, mackie etc you want go back! Genelecs is a bit pricy secondhand, but the thing with them is that you get it back when you sell them later!

edit: and I simply dont like the sound o the krks. also gave my mate lots of extra work on a track he did. fuked up some of hes frequency ranges real bad. Came out so clear what was wrong with his mix in my studio with the genelecs: hes krkrs !

well I have genelecs at the main studio I work at these are just for my home studio recording. They have some huge Mackie midfields as well.

I tried they won't let me bring those home!
