I would like to create a sequnce of chords that can be advanced by playing notes.
Example: I'd like the chord progression to be major - maj9 - maj7. When I play the first note on my keyboard I get a major chord. When I play the second i get a maj9 and so on.
Or can it be done with the chain function in a midi effect rack? I tried but I couldn't find a way to advance the chain selector by playing notes.
Chord progression
Not really what I'm after. I want to be able to make a sequence of chords that accepts any note input and advances to the next type of chord in the chord sequence with each new note input.longjohns wrote:I think hoffman 2k made a pluggo which could help with this.
maybe it is somewhere on the covert ops site
it would play a sequence of notes one at a time. I imagine you could take that output and generate the chords based of that, with ableton plugs
I feel like there's a chance to make something work..
if you had a stack of 3 clips on a "control" MIDI track, each with it's own settings for a chord plug
and sent the keyboard's MIDI through that plug
that part is easy enough to do...
what I can't seem to get going with a quick test is cycling through the three control clips with each incoming note. I can do it with scene launches, but that would limit how the rest of the .als file could operate..
so maybe this is where hoffman's device could come into play - to cycle through three control notes and send them in to the clips.
