Driver Compensation and Alesis io2

Okay, Alesis io2, purchased as a re-furb. Silly me. Maybe. In setting the driver error compensation, I do the wonderful procedure from the Live Lessons. Great. I get an offset of, say, 16ms and set that preference. Then check it. Nope, no good, and now the offset is 64ms. So I set it to THAT and test it. No, now it's back to 16ms! Shut down, come back next day and then it's the same thing again but different values. Is this interface in trouble? I will say this: the midi i/o on the Alesis is buggy and unusable.
