Why should it not be possible?

it already allows you to use vsts in rewire slave mode...

and there is precedent for things like project 5 and fruity loops to allow you to use vsti in slave mode...

don't see any reason this wouldn't work unless you were running a whole bunch and bogged your system down.

what are you going to slave live to that doesn't already have vsti's?

When Live (3.0.4) is running in a rewire slave mode, there are no VST plugins available, which is a real pain.
Our Live sets are prepared for live shows when Live is running in a standalone mode and they involve many VST FXs. We can't use these sets later when working on a studio project, when Live is slaved to Nuendo because of all the missing plugins.
I know that we can reproduce such sets by reassigning the VST FXs to Live's rewire channels in Nuendo, but that represents a lot of senseless work.

I hope for a change in Live 4.

well I could've sworn that I had run a vst effect in live while live was rewired to another host, but you cannot as has been mentioned.

guess it has been a while since I tried this, and maybe should've loaded the app up this time and checked before opening my big mouth ;)

i would also like to know this. i was planning on gettng adobe audition as my editing and mastering tool as it now supports rewire. i thought it is possible to route all audio and midi channels (in live 4) to separate channels in audition. but no vst effects??? and no vsti?? that would destry the purpose.

Live! is a Rewire slave application. You cannot use a VSTi in Live! without a Rewire master application. We will can use the VSTi in the next Live! version...Live! 4....and this is a FANTASTIC feature...I'm very excited..

You can read this info about rewire
