trouble!! best way to record a live set... help?!?!

hey all, i've been having some problems here. i want to record one of my livesets on the fly. the problem is that i make generous use of fx and automation, and extra helpings of the return-to-arrangement button. unfortunately, all i want to record is the audio output, and all the midi info and automation gets majorly fuxxored evertime i hit that return to arrangement button- making new automations that make it impossible to get back to where i want to be. i can play the set through fine, it's just recording it that is a nightmare. any suggestions?
