Are those things fixed? Should I update to Live 7?
Are those things fixed? Should I update to Live 7?
Hi folks,
two things that I find pretty annoying in Live 6 are:
- Too many tracks in the session view, esp. when opening multitimbral softsynths. Can you finally fold tracks that belong to one synth? Any sort of folder tracks? Group tracks? Something like that?
- No parameter feedback in instrument racks. If you connect a macro control to an instrument parameter and you modify that parameter from within the instrument or recall a preset, that macro control doesn't reflect the parameter change. You get a parameter jump when you touch that control.
So are those things fixed in Live 7?
Thank you.

I'd love to. But I don't like the idea that Live 7 is messing with my Live 6 sets or in general making problems when reverting to Live 6 as reported by other Live 7 demo users.Tone Deft wrote:download the demo.
Entering "fixed" or "only 1 fixed" or "not fixed" would have taken even less time and would be much more helpful.

you cannot save a 6 set in 7, you must 'save as'spacebag wrote:I'd love to. But I don't like the idea that Live 7 is messing with my Live 6 sets or in general making problems when reverting to Live 6 as reported by other Live 7 demo users.Tone Deft wrote:download the demo.
also simply backup your library
That's not exactly answering the question.
Look, I' m aware of the fact that I don't have any pets. Also I like my working live sets as much as I like my working audio system. But I don't like putting my flawless audio system installation at risk by installing live 7 demo.
so why don't you live 7 guys not just give me a little hint?
Edit: typo

it works great for me, but has all along. after the 7 beta, some presets in my library didn't work in 6 anymore.spacebag wrote:That's not exactly answering the question.

I am not sure what you are saying about too many tracks... I know last night. lets say I have 20 tracks in session view... I can then go click on the one farthest Left... hold down shift select the one farthest right.... then once they are all selected.. i can move the tracks... (or fold them) to make them bigger and smaller at the same time (by resizing the last clip with the bracket it will resize all selected}.... not sure if this is what you are asking about..spacebag wrote:Hi folks,

Thank you.
You can also freeze mulitiple tracks at the same time by doing the above... But that could have been the same in Live 6 sorry not sure...
It is really all about setting up your own personal organization and bussing.
Also I do alot of bussing with tracks that share the same instrument... and then basically fold away the other tracks leaving the bus open... (when I say fold away.. I don't mean they disappear.. however they are the with of well... a letter... I think the first letter of the track name) ...
I have no Idea if this is what you are asking.. if not.. I am sorry...
I think those two issues are very very minor compared to how bad F'in ASS Live 7 is...
(knock on wood) my system is running Flawlessly.... I have only had to reset a few times... whenver I had tons of tracks going on... and needed to freeze stuff...
All I know is... Version 7 is amazing... and for me it is well worth the headache until everything gets smoothed out... You couldn't pay me to go back to Version 6 for anything now...
The new instruments are fantastic.. it seems to run faster for me... (I do have a very powerful computer like Dual Core Processor.... 4 GB of Ram.... Good sound card and that such.. PS I run mine On PC)...
Anyways.. hope that helps...

I would back up your existing Live 6 presets and so on... and then install Live 7.... You can still run live 6 seperatly from Live 7 that way you don't have to worry about it "messing" up your live 6 sets.. what I would do.. if you open up your live 6 sets in live 7 go and save as to another location... that way it saves that new one as a Live 7 set..
Thats what I really like about live.. you can have more than one version at a time on your computer...
