Live 6 with MOTU Ultralite ASIO = no SOUND!

me:

PC Windows XP SP2
Texas Instruments Firewire card
Motu Ultralite sound card (BUS powered)
Ableton Live 6
VSTi plug-ins - Slayer, Cameleon, Trilogy, etc.

Problem:
NO sound comes from Live 6 if I select MOTU ASIO as the ASIO device.
I see the volume bars moving on MIDI and Master channels in Live, but channel meters on MOTU are flat and no sound through the speakers.

This is not an issue when I select MOTU MME; Sound is great, however the MIDI latency is too great with MME.

Is there any advantage to using ASIO with my setup and why is there no sound when I do?
