Think you are having a bad day?

If you think you are having a bad day
Just consider what happened to my mate yesterday 8O
Thursday - Brand new 17" macbook Pro arrives
Friday Morning - I help him set it up etc
Friday Afternoon - He spills the largest cup of coffee I have ever seen all over the keyboard !!!!!

1 - this should make you feel better about your day
2- DO NOT put down your coffee within 6 feet of your laptop 8O

Couldn't you just replace the keyboard anyway? How much would that cost?

My friend spilled a glass of red wine all over my MPC a week ago. Most fukt up thing that has ever happened to any piece of gear I've owned thus far.

Papertowelled it down. It was working fine but the transport buttons were screwy. I let it dry up it ended up working fine. I still opened up the bottom and cleaned out any signs of red wine from the internals going in through the bottom of the MPC. didn't have enough courage to open up the face plate tho.

Everything dried up and it works fine.

New rule: No drunk dumbasses allowed in my room.

ROFLMAO!

Its only funny cause I've Been There too!

Went over to good friends house - sorta a 'meet and greet' for his wife and mine.

We sit down, He opens up his new MacBook - showing off photos of a holiday trip.. his wife brings drinks over. My wife asks - 'Oh that looks spectacular.. where was that taken?' Then proceeds to spill a whole pint of beer right onto his MacBook while trying to point at the screen. Totally mortified... Spilly Mcspillerson!

Clean.. let dry.. pray! Good Luck

If you spill coffee on a laptop you turn it upside down immediately, power off (if not already) so the coffee spills out onto the ground, and you keep it like that for 15-20 minutes for drain. Then take out the keyboard and mop up any remaining wetness with a cloth.

Did he get a warranty that covers that kind of damage? Applecare should be available to cover this, if it was chosen.

Dell have completecare that covers this kind of accident and it only adds about 40 dollars onto the cost of the base warranty for one year and about 60 dollars for 3 years. My wife has actually wrecked one computer (but it was covered with complete care, so a replacement was sent out within 3 business days) and the other one *not covered* was salvageable because of the quick thinking of turning the laptop upside down so most of the coffee did not go inside the case. After it dried out, it was cleaned and it worked fine. After a couple of days a coffee stain appeared inside the LCD screen which required taking out the LCD screen and cleaning it but then it worked.

Applecare does not cover accidents like this.

I don't see the big deal, it's just a Mac.
