I've always used a Korg Microkontrol as my midi controller through Ableton, Cubase etc, however I've recently purchased an old Ensoniq MR 61 keyboard (which has midi functionality) and would like to write midi notes on ableton that will trigger the sounds on my ensoniq keyboard that will then be sent back to Ableton (that I can then record as audio once I have my midi pattern correct). I've activated my midi outputs in Ableton but can't get it to work (I am, however, able to have it function through midi in when I want to do this). To give you some more information, I have a midi cable running from the Midi Out of my soundcard (a Focusrite Saffire) to the midi in of my ensoniq. I then have a lead running from my audio out to the line in of my sound card.
Could someone please let me know what I'm doing wrong and let me know how to use midi out correctly?
