Melodyne 2.5 and live

Post by jamief » Sat Jun 26, 2004 6:38 am

Hiya there,
i,m thinking of purchasing Melodyne 2.5 . Anyone using it with Live at the moment ?
Does Melodynes DAW bridge work with live ? I,m trying to find out how the workflow would perform ?Ideally i,m looking for Live and melodyne to be seemlessly integrated as a smooth workflow is my main aim to keep my creativity spontanous.

best

Jamie~F :)

I have the cre8 version, but haven't used it much yet beacuse I was waiting for the update, but the 2.5 update is very wicked for singing in a melody and then playing your vstis with it - and I THINK (haen't tried yet) that the VST bridge will allow you to put it on a track and then pipe your audio into it from live - so in other words if you have a bass line going and want to change the sound of it, pipe it into melodyne and route it to your vstis! Of cours once it's in melodyne you can move it about like it was midi. Performance in 2.5 is better too (OS X and XP)

crash...

Post by gaspode » Sat Jun 26, 2004 11:23 am

Unfortunately some of the existing bugs that cause melodyne to crash still cause it to crash. I've also found that certain vsti's cause it to lock up as well... z3ta did not make Melodyne a happy camper.

Having tried to loop a vsti through a chopped sample in melodyne and record it in live caused a few problems (need to make sure that all the note on/off events are withint the loop)... I was also fighting with some gain issues. However the worst problem was there seems to be some decent amount of latency. Even after having quantised the notes melodyne's output was not lining up very well within live. I'll work with this more to see if there is a buffer issue or if possibly I am just doing something wrong.

Still, it is pretty bitchin' to be able to load up a sample you like the note progression for, but think the sound blows and turn it into something completely different.
