Live 7.02 - Midi in cuts out and then comes back

Hi everyone, I have a problem with midi in Live 7.02, I have searched the forums but cannot seem to find an answer.
All seems to be fine on startup, I play notes on my keyboard and I can hear the sounds triggered in Live.

A couple of minutes later I play my keyboard but no sound can be heard even though I can see midi in activity on the indicator top right. Another couple of minutes and the sound returns?

All is fine when I play back a song but not when I am playing notes in on my keyboard, it may be some kind of 'note off' problem but Im really not sure. I never had this problem in previous versions. If I close Live and restart all is fine at first and then the above happens again.

This happens with native Live plug ins and also external plug ins. I have my Saffire set as the input midi port in the preferences window.

Anyone else experienced this?

Ableton told me to set my midi ports to MME in the preferences, seems to have solved the problem.
