Static Noise Through my Monitors? Can anyone help?

Post by FavoriteStation » Mon Mar 17, 2008 5:36 pm

I use a Mac Book pro and a motu ultralite. When I am hooked up to my Yahma hs-80m studio monitors, I am getting horrible static noise. I do not get it through my headphones (at least that I can hear). Now here is the weird thing. I had a window open, and when I would move my mouse to change the window size, it affects the static noise in perfect sync. So something is coming from my computer I would think. I have triend a number of things to fix it and nothing seems to work? I havn't changed my set-up, and had this problem a while back, and then it just stopped? Now it's back, not sure what the deal is, but if anyone has any ideas, that would be great!

Sounds like it's your harddrive producing static being picked up by your soundcard, an external soundcard should do the trick. :)

Maybe you've got some dirty/shifty power in the building you work in. A power conditioner may help. I use a PM-8 Series II from Furman. It's a nice thing to have to plug my gear into. It could get rid of the weirdness you've got there.
