Render to disk or "analog"record?

Hey Guys!

So, I have audigy 2 zs pcmcia sound card.
The question is: what's the better? If I render to disk the music,or if I record the line out with minidisc or other stuff.
is there a difference in a quality in other sound system?

I hope for it understandable...

if you've got $10,000 in outboard analog gear, then record to that.
Otherwise, rendering to disk will be much better than recording to minidisc.
Unless you only plan to release your music on minidisc.

You know that minidisc compresses audio in a lossy format, right?

I disagree.

It's better to render to disk and then pass it through your £10,000 worth of outboard gear. That way you have the option to change the post mix processing.

Actually it's better to render to disk and then let somebody else pass it through their £100,000 worth of outboard gear.

Unless of course you actually mix it through your £10,000 worth of outboard gear, in which case print it through that.

But not into an Audigy card.
