Is there a follow action on scenes?

Post by lazlo_funktek » Thu Mar 20, 2008 4:52 pm

Is there a follow action function on scenes?

I know how to set it up in clips and have been doing that successfully, but now I'm starting to use multiple clips, it's becomming a pain in the bum to change every clip in a scene when I want to change the follow action.

Thanks

Dummy clips and a virtual MIDI bus.

A forum search should help you out with the details.

Actually...

Actually, I thought I knew what you meant, but I don't.

Is it this - one clip has the follow action as a master control. This then has a midi note on beat 1 eg. C3, which you then send out and back in using some kind of virtual MIDI device, then MIDI map C3 to the play button for scenes.

If this is right, I just need to know where the virtual MIDI bus thing is.

you can add a follow action to multiple clips; select them (your scene)and then add an action

Time signature uniformity the problem

Post by lazlo_funktek » Thu Mar 20, 2008 6:22 pm

Hi, thanks, it wasn't showing the boxes where you put in the amount of bars etc., but I think it's because the time signatures weren't the same in all the clips.

Do you ever get it where you highlight a load of clips, put in a time signature and then it doesn't change them all?

That's the one!

On a Mac, it's built in as the IAC Bus. You'll need a third-party app on a PC (I think it's MIDI Yoke).

Lazlo - I've learned that when I start getting too tricky for my own good with follow actions and stuff to keep clips flowing in session view, it's time to bounce to arrange view. IMO session view is for hashing out ideas, arrange view is appropriate once the basic structure is laid down.

yes, midi yoke on PC. or just take a midi cable and connect an input to an output on a midi device. keep your wits about you so you don't make a midi loop.

Full looping control with follow actions per clip that can trigger another clip in the track or a complete scene...
