Hi there,
Sometimes when assigning a particular rotary controller to a midi function in Live I get an error message to the effect of:
"Send D is awaiting pickup"
This particular example comes up when I assign the midi control to a send to return track D (hence the 'send D')
The error seems to be indicating the fact that whilst Live has assigned the midi controller to that midi function moving the controller has no effect on the midi function (i.e. It doesn't change any of the values of the midi within live)
I get the same error message no matter which control I assign the knob to, it just seems that the particular knob does not get 'picked up' by ableton.
So what I am wondering, is what this message means?
Why does it only seem to effect some of my rotary controllers?
What can I do to fix it? Is it a problem with Ableton, the midi controller, the settings of the controller or something else?
Background info:
- Midi controller used is a Photon X25 with all the updates to firmware and it works perfectly otherwise
- I am using Ableton Live 6.0.10
- Windows Vista Business edition
Any thoughts/comments would be great. Thanks.
Gyro

its not an error message, its a (sometimes) handy function. Its probably in the manual but its means that the assigned parameter wont change until your knob gets to the same point as the parameter is set to. Its supposed to avoid getting big jumps in values when the knob and the parameter are at different positions.
AT least thats what i remember it being, i could be wrong

Hi Gyro,
it´s indeed not a bug but a feature, it works just as Meef describes it. Please refer to the manual, chapter 23.1.3 if you want to know more about Live´s takeover modes.
