See I just set up a new PC
ASUS P5K-E motherboard
Intel Core 2 Duo @ 2.33Ghz
4 Gb of DDR2 RAM (so 3'25 in windowsXP)
NVIDIA GeForce 8800GT alphadog
System Disk is on IDE
Another 750 Gb disk on SATA
M-Audio FW410 audio device
Windows XP SP2 (original)
I thought everything will go smooth, but everything goes not smooth at all. Got crackles when working with audio and some random slowdowns and Live crashes too, but only when I'm reading VST libraries from the SATA disk.
So here are my questions:
I've heard that SATA and M-Audio don't mix. Is that true? Anyone knows something about that or is an urban legend?
Also heard that is better to have only 2 Gb of RAM installed to make sound with windows XP. Is that for real? or is it a pagan superstition?
Thanks to those who took a minute to read this, big love to those who can bring some light on me.
