Clips dragged into arrange view not working

I am runnining into a recuring problem when I try to create arrangements going from session view into Arrangement view in Live 6.10 (WinXp). This, I recall, is a common way to create arrangements. Though I am coming back to Live after a lengthy hiatus, I am sure this correct. The problem is that I audio or midi clips dragged into the arrangement view do not produce any sound even though they are clearly present and inserted into the appropriate track. I do not see what I am doing wrong. Any tips would be much appreciated.

Press the red "back to arrangement" button in the transport bar.

Thanks DJGroovy! I was not famiiar with the role of the red "back to arrangement" or the yellow OVR button. But now I am confused. What's the difference between the red "back to arrangement" button and hitting the Arrangement view. I fail to see why there are two buttons which seem to do the same thing?

The back to arrangement button lights up in a number of situations, and can be confusing to understand at first.

If you're playing an arrangement and then switch to session view and launch a clip it will light up to tell you that what you're listening is not the same as your arrangement. Then you have to press it to go back to arrangement.

Other situation it will light up is if you move an automated parameter.

Thanks DJGroovy! You are a real gentleman. I did not know that either. I clearly need to RTM. I do not like to read for any length of time on screen using my laptop and I don't have a PDF reader on my DAW to refer to while trying to work in Live. So I asked the Abletons if I can order a print copy of the manual.

You're a Gentleman in the classic sense of the word since you answered my rather naive questions so politely. It's a rare commodity hereabouts.

I have been trying to get the hang of Live since version 3 and have made little if any progress. It is so very different from the DAWs I am used to.
