when I sought out RAM, this site told me what my computer could take

I used the system scanner <gulp> and it's trustworthy, IMO.

I've seen plenty dumber questions in my days.

Don't actually think the RAM is processor dependant - more of a mainboard question. Just get a stick with the correct specs. RAM manufacturers can help you out - or even your computer manual.

there's some nice corsair ram with low latency 4-4-4-12 available for macbookpro and macbook, i'd like to be able to put this in my pc laptop. I think it basically comes down to if pc bios can handle the low latency as there is no way you can overclock laptops. you can change the x-x-x but not the y via software
