Hands up if you LOVE Live's manual
Hands up if you LOVE Live's manual
This, for me, is a new high point in publicly geeking out!!!
But isn't it just the most
well written
well laid out
easy-to-understand
manual you've ever read?!
+1 some love for the manual if u feel me

Re: Hands up if you LOVE Live's manual
That's a negative from me. Although I have no doubt that it is well written for those of you who already have a base understanding of terms, concepts and workings of DAW software, it is not written or intended for people who do not fit those above catagories. I find the manual I have confusing, limited and not logocal at all, in fact the very opposite of your experience.... from this frustrating noob anyway.misteron wrote:This, for me, is a new high point in publicly geeking out!!!

That is pretty damn annoying.Tone Deft wrote:the index is pretty weak, I've looked for names that appear in the GUI and they're not referenced. I prefer the .pdf version 'cause I can search faster.
it does explain things pretty efficiently.
Ableton’s engineers are hard
at work developing code that will allow our software to predict the future, but we don’t
anticipate having this available until at least the next major release.

Of all the manuals i have at my disposal i'd probably give the live one an 8/10.
Especially if you take the time to do the lessons in the side bar of the actual application.
My only gripe is the same one that Tones has,,
Having said though this forum is a great resource for filling in the gaps, not to mention finding the occasional nugget buried in the noise, my latest one being the stretch notes. The other finding a post that explained some other aspect but made the whole concept of follow actions much clearer.

RTFM!
You should read the live 7 one,, much better plot and a totally unexpected ending.
I'd love to see Brad Pitt in the movie.

Live is the first DAW and one of the first pieces of software I've ever touched.gjm wrote:Although I have no doubt that it is well written for those of you who already have a base understanding of terms, concepts and workings of DAW software, it is not written or intended for people who do not fit those above catagories.
And in fact I know 2 or 3 others like me who feel the same.

'cept of course u can't press ctrl+f in print version
Yeah that's new to me too. Found it in a video tutorial for "phasing music" (or something) by h2k or Machinate i think, linked to on the boards.Homebelly wrote:My only gripe is the same one that Tones has,,
