Recognizing MIDI Effects

Post by jumpback » Mon Apr 28, 2008 1:47 pm

Hi all,

I'm wondering if someone can help me out here... I'm an Ableton user and a MAX/MSP user. I've created some pretty cool MAX/MSP plugins that can alter MIDI performances, but I can't get Live to recognize these a MIDI effects. So, when I insert my custom plug-ins into Live, it gives me an AUDIO output, not a MIDI output. I want to route the MIDI signals (post plugin) to other MIDI tracks, but I can't because it immediately changes the output to audio, though there is no audio output.

How can I have Live treat my custom plugins the way it treats it's own MIDI effects? Any thoughts?

you should be able to access your plugin's MIDI port by selecting it as a MIDI input on a separate Live MIDI track.

Live assumes, by default, that 3rd party plugins will be outputting audio... hopefully it's something Ableton and C74 can make a bit easier when the next version of pluggo gets released.
