Quick I Need Some Lighting Recommendations!

Need to place an order pronto. Does anyone have lighting equipment the absolutely love? Im thinking some leds would be nice... thanks!

Ditto the LEDs, unless you're looking for beam-through-haze effects. The cheaper LEDs don't do this very well.

All you need is a hardware MIDI>DMX converter, and you can do all of your lighting programming, control and performance directly in Live.

Everyone over there is a fan of the latest LED lighting - LED technology has just about reached the stage where affordable LED parcans & fixtures can replace old incandescent lamps. Depends how deep your pockets are, though. The best LED lights are expensive, and there's some real cheap tat out there that should be avoided.

Your question is very vague, yet say you "need to place an order pronto". You do realise, I hope, that lighting hardware game is complex and expensive? It's a good idea to do some serious research before spending. Some basic questions...

- Are you DJing and looking to light the dance floor, or do you need to light the stage for a live performance? Each has totally different requirements, and different lights.

- Do you want to flood large areas with nice colour, or have pinsharp beams of light? Or both?

- Do you want moving effects? (scanners/moving heads/intelligent lights)

- Do you plan to (or will you be ALLOWED to) use smoke/haze to enhance the lighting effects?

- How do you plan to control the lighting? Do you want straightforward "sound to light" operation with no manual control? Or basic control from a hardware DMX controller/footswitch? Or full DMX control from inside Live?

- What's your budget?

I ended up getting a smoke machine and a mega pixel LED bar. Looks pretty sick. Cant wait to try it out!
