It sounds to me like it's lacking a real kick sample. Maybe layer one over the drum machine kick.

The two problems are interrelated. Keep your kick and bass frequencies out of each other's way by EQing both tracks and hi pass filtering the bass (maybe at around 75-80 Hz or so) so it doesn't step on the kick drum, or change your kick and bass sounds so they don't clash.

This relationship is the fundamental to all music, but especially to dance orientated music. Buy some good mixing books like The Mixing Engineer's Handbook (2nd edition) by Bobby Owsinski or other good mixing books to learn some better mixing techniques.
