32-bit session importing 24-bit?

Post by borda » Thu May 22, 2008 7:49 am

From what I understand Ableton Live works in 32-bit float by default. If I want to import my vocals that i recorded in ProTools 7.4 to my A Live Session ,should I export them from PT at 32-bit?
which is a better..: export from PT in 32-bit? import in ableton 32-bit?

does it have something to do with the bit-depth in Record syst/preferences?

tks! :?:

Hi borda,

the question here is:
-with which bitdepth have you recorded into ProTools and
-with which bitdepth is ProTools working internally.

If it is 32bit, then export with 32bit. Less would cause quality loss.

The bitdepth from the preferences menu defines only the bitdepth in that Live will record new files.

Best,
dfi
