Using OSX doesn't protect you generally from viruses (as there are some written for OSX, yes there are a few and there WILL be more coming).
How about helping this (I guess Windows) guy? Instead of telling everybody how "cool" you are because you've got an Apple (I do own one too, so don't start war here).
I like Kaspersky very much, but can't tell you about performance enhancements compared to FreeAV.

Yep! Also, what the hell are you people doing to get these computer viruses anyways?doc holiday wrote:kristoffer1989 wrote:nate_D wrote:
it's nice when you have a 6 1/2 year old box, and have never reinstalled or used AV software, and also never had an issue.

It is also possible to have a virus free PC as well. My PIII desktop is over 6 years old and I don't run any AV on it. Just Firefox and NO visiting questionable sites. I am tired of the space killing 19" CRT monitor though

In this topic; grown men who derive their self esteem from which operating system their computer runs.doc holiday wrote:kristoffer1989 wrote:nate_D wrote:

Use what ever antivirus you feel most comfortable with (I recommend Kaspersky), but turn it off when you are working. If it's not running when you're working, it doesn't really matter.
I'm going to stop posting here, I'm sick of the morons. Bye.*

The OP is asking for the BEST anti-virus for music makers, not the best anti-virus software for PCs.
The best? In my opinion?
OS X.
I use both OS X and XP, and to me, viruses not being an issue is one of the major reasons for using OS X.
This ain't a flame war or 'I have an Apple and you don't' thing. It's about what I think is the best anti-virus solution for musicians (and DJs...and anyone else, too!)
