Using OSX doesn't protect you generally from viruses (as there are some written for OSX, yes there are a few and there WILL be more coming).

How about helping this (I guess Windows) guy? Instead of telling everybody how "cool" you are because you've got an Apple (I do own one too, so don't start war here).

I like Kaspersky very much, but can't tell you about performance enhancements compared to FreeAV.

if you really want an antivirus, Nod32 is extremely great in performance. And the heuristic engine is simply overruling anything else. I've studied it a lot due to working with on a special heuristic engine with another developer.

Yep! Also, what the hell are you people doing to get these computer viruses anyways? :? Leave cracks, internet porn, and emails from unknown sources alone!

It is also possible to have a virus free PC as well. My PIII desktop is over 6 years old and I don't run any AV on it. Just Firefox and NO visiting questionable sites. I am tired of the space killing 19" CRT monitor though

In this topic; grown men who derive their self esteem from which operating system their computer runs.

Use what ever antivirus you feel most comfortable with (I recommend Kaspersky), but turn it off when you are working. If it's not running when you're working, it doesn't really matter.

I'm going to stop posting here, I'm sick of the morons. Bye.*

AVG antivirus is good, AVAST is better, and they are both free.

Also run a spyware cleaner every couple of weeks, AVG antispyware is a good place to start, plus Spybot, and a couple of others i forget.

Its been years since ive had a PC virus.

The OP is asking for the BEST anti-virus for music makers, not the best anti-virus software for PCs.

The best? In my opinion?

OS X.

I use both OS X and XP, and to me, viruses not being an issue is one of the major reasons for using OS X.

This ain't a flame war or 'I have an Apple and you don't' thing. It's about what I think is the best anti-virus solution for musicians (and DJs...and anyone else, too!)
