Using to different drum sets in one song?

Hi I have been trying to do some 80's postpunk kinda Chrome sounding tracks, and in one song, I wanna do some breakbeats, but I have a lot of trouble getting them to sound good together with the hard synced drum machine sounds.

So I wanted to hear from you what you do when you try to mix to very different sounding drum sets together?

Split up (ctrl/cmd+e) kick and snare from a breakbeat you like and just re-arrange it so it fits. Then take a loop that you like the high end on, filter out everything below 2khz and warp it to taste. That's definently a starting point and adds some authencity to a otherwise cold, quantized track.
