I have two libraries - one on my laptop's harddisk, the other (big) one on an external.
When I have used the external library and then the next time I work without the external drive, live selects no library and I have to manually select the local library. Why? There is only one available now, so Live could just select it, instead of popping up with a message, and having me manually selecting the only one that is available in the preferences.[/u]
2 libraries: switch automatically when library 2 unavailable

But what if someone just forgot to connect the external drive, then live would select the internal Library without complaining, possibly altering the sound your set is producing.
Wouldnt you think that that also could be annoying?
Plus, how can Live be sure you want to select the other available Library, maybe you want to create a new one or select one from another external drive?
It's always hard for software to guess what exactly the user wants.

How would a different library alter the sound of existing sets?stefanvdm wrote:But what if someone just forgot to connect the external drive, then live would select the internal Library without complaining, possibly altering the sound your set is producing.
If only one library is available, Live could by default choose this one.
If I want to create a new one I won't complain if I have to click somewhere. But if I just want to start to make music, then I don't want to select libraries first. I mostly want to make music. I hardly ever create new libraries. Most people wont ever do it, or only when they get a bigger external drive etc.
