How much faster is a Dual or Quad Core than my pentium 4 3.0Ghz of the same speed. I may be stupid i dont mind but i would like to know how much performance will I gain. I use a 2GB ram DDR 400, Two 7200rpm ATA Hardrives 250 and a 90GB. I use Ableton 7/sampler with VST Rapture and Some nice plugins. So im offten up to 70% and that may be with three or four Frezzed tracks.

Would appreciate some feedback.

dresie, just to give you a ball park figure. A project that I was running on a Pentium IV 3.0ghz machine was taking up sustained 80% cpu resources.

The same project on my core 2 duo is now sustaining at 15% cpu.

I've got a core2quad machine, believe me it's not only night and day it's like the difference between sitting on the sun and a snowy day on the moon. I've NEVER maxed out a track. I ever tried to once, added about 100 of lives reverbs set to high quality and it just kept on smiling at me.
It was as if someone shook up a 6 foot can of blood soda and suddenly popped the top.
