Hi,
I'm running Live 6.10 on a Macbook pro (Intel Core 2 Duo
Processor Speed:2.16 GHz Memory:2 GB).
Up untill recently I had no problems running my projects consisting of several Vst-instruments (e.g. Predator, Blue, Albino,Minimoog) , reason rewired to it while recording live audio from other musicians. All this without a glitch...
But now it is impossible for me to playback the same projects.(I think it started after I installed a demo version of logic on my machine and somehow some audiodrivers got stuffed.) I even reinstalled my OS but it seemed to help for just a short while. If I try to playback a project the sound is totally messed up...tempo is moving, crackling, it sounds like the buffer is somehow unable to playback all the sounds and the processor is unable to proccess al the data. But The CPU-indicator is at an easy 20 prct. and I've tried basically all the buffer settings but there seems to be no audible difference between settings.
I manage to playback just a few audiofiles and maybe one or two Vst-insturments simultaniously before disaster strikes.
I'm not a total wizz-kid on a mac, so I tried all I could think of to solve this problem but it is completly messing with me.
Anyone who could be of any assistance would be VERY welcome.
PLEASE HELP!!
Ph.
playback impossible....patience running out!
i've had abysmal performance ever since i did the last apple security update (in april 2008).
- a bunch have people have mentioned it, have you tried disabling airport?
- then, load the largest samples into RAM.
for me, live can't be used until i disable the airport.
that makes it better, but, performance is not what it was. if i have a file open, for example, and then go away from my computer for 30 minutes, Live becomes unusable, choked up, unless i relaunch the application. this screams memory leak to me, but i haven't seen it mentioned.
running files off an external drive does not alleviate my performance issues.
can't think of anything else to suggest.

Thanks for the tip
I too am experiencing somewhat of the same issue. Is it the new security update. I'm running at 20 % on CPU usage and I get all these pops as soon as I lower the latency to 300. Not the best thing when you're composing.
