I just got a Novation ReMOTE 25SL Compact last week and set it up to use with Live 7. Everything is working great except for drum racks. The way I understand it, Ableton is supposed to remap the drum pads on your controller to the ones scrolled into view, but mine always play C3-C4.
Has anyone gotten this to work? Do I have something configured wrong? Or do you need a 16-pad controller?
If the automatic mapping doesn't work, has anyone come up with a good way to play drum racks with the pads other than having to drag all of the samples around every time you open up a new rack?

Bump... anyone using a Remote SL Compact with drum racks?
Re: Novation SL Compact drum pads with a drum rack
are the pads at least in chromatic order? if so, use a pitch effect and shift it the necessary number of notes.tmoore wrote:If the automatic mapping doesn't work, has anyone come up with a good way to play drum racks with the pads other than having to drag all of the samples around every time you open up a new rack?

They are. The mapping matches the slots in Impulse. The pitch effect is a good idea, but you still lose the ability to scroll through multiple sets of pads that way, right?scientist wrote:are the pads at least in chromatic order? if so, use a pitch effect and shift it the necessary number of notes.
I mean, rearranging the clips so that they match the pads isn't so horrible, and I could use the transpose controls to get more than 8, but one of the best things about drum racks is the way it's supposed to automatically map to pad controls, and I was just hoping there was some way to do that with the compact (maybe by adding a custom automap config or something).
Re: Novation SL Compact drum pads with a drum rack
I have the SL Remote and chose to not use the Automap. Then you can choose any notes you want for the drum pads. Not sure if this would work for you but I found customizing the user template to be the easiest and map everything from there. I stopped using Automap because I found it mapped stuff I didn't want mapped. Anyway, if so, go to the template, hold the edit key, press the first pad, turn the control in top left corner to CC or Drumpad and then choose what CC key or note (if you chose drum pad)you want. Understand you need to turn off your Midi Output or every time you start Live it will switch it to Template 37 or whatever Live is.
