hmm. seems i can use it to spit out Midi notes. but then i would need to translate those notes into Midi PC messages via another application (like Midipipe).

Midiipipe also has a keyboard to Midi notes module. but then i'd have to translate it further in the chain to PC messages.

guess i'm looking for something simple - allowing me to hit any key on my computer keyboard, and specify what kind of Midi message I want sent, be it PC #5 or CC #108 value 64, etc.

anyone know of any other method to do that?

thank you!

Did you try the Bome's MIDI translator ? Pro version does keystroke-to-MIDI conversion...
it may be your solution.

alas...the OS X version for Bomes says...

"This is the Pro Edition of Midi Translator. The following functions are not available (yet) in the Mac version:
Keystroke as Incoming Trigger
"

I wrote and Florian Bomers (the author) says it will be months.

You can do it with Midipipe. There is a function called Applescript trigger. This gives you the opportunity to program wathever you need to send out.

If you are not familiar with this or willing to get into it...let me know what EXACTLY you want to do with it and I´ll try to set it up for you...

you could do this in Max/MSP

Input :

key

select 32 (this would be space_bar)

bang

[144 60 127] - midi note on ch 1, note 60, vol 127

or [192 3] - program change channel 4

midiout

if you need help...
