Producing Electronic Dance Music With LIVE 7
I have been using LIVE 6 for djing for a while and recently upgraded to LIVE 7. Lately i have some ideas which i want to shape into production. I have heard many name like CUBASE, SONAR, REASON etc but i want to stick to LIVE as i have already been using for a while. Now is LIVE good enough for production and can EDM be done by using LIVE's built in Sampler? Or i need external software instrument devices? Also procuction in LIVE, is it done in session view or arrangement view. Thanks in advance!!!

I know of very many people who make their edm music with Live. Deadmau5 is a very well-known Live user for example.
With Live, you already have the basis of what you need. I recommend getting the additional stuff:
One of the Vengeance Sample CDs (drums and effects) - http://www.vengeance-sound.com/eng/inde ... leCDs.html
Sylenth1 (brilliant software synthesizer) - http://www.lennardigital.com/modules/sylenth1/
There is also a great deal of free stuff on the internet, not quite as good as the above, but decent enough.

You can be sure Ableton is good enough for production duh
and yes you certainly can make EBM with it. You don't necesary need external software, Ableton gives you all the basics you need, just experiment with its instruments, samples & fx.
You can do production in session or arrangement view, but for the defenitive production arrangement view is mostly used.

This depends on your own way of working. I have been useing live completly since last autunm. Lately I have found myself only really using the session view only to sketch down adeas, while the rest i do in the arranger window. I did hear that you only use the aranger window when you have everything you need in clips. This didnt suit my creative flow.projectfusion wrote: Also procuction in LIVE, is it done in session view or arrangement view. Thanks in advance!!!
You will need to find some VST or AU instruments that suits your type of music. Some wacky filter/delay plugs would come in handy too if you want more of a pro feel to your tracks.
