Ableton Live Suite VS Native Instruments Komplete 5
Ableton Live Suite VS Native Instruments Komplete 5
I own both AL Suite & NI Komplete 5. Thinking of selling Komplete 5. Is this smart? What do you think?

no worries I always liked the Glitchrock Buddha handle!
I would keep Komplete. That package is amazing value for money and the amount of powerful and decent sounding tools in that package is just mind boggling.

Near future
Yes I know all about the quality.
But cant we expect similar quality and instruments from Ableton in the near future.

It is possible to have too many synths and other bits and pieces to play about with, if you've got Komplete and Suite then that is a shit load of stuff and its difficult to see how you could make use of it all. So maybe selling one of them to raise some cash for other things would make sense.
I've got Suite plus all the PureMagnetik and Covert Operator packs which is likely to keep me busy for a long, long time. I'm tempted to get Logic Studio but there is no way I'd ever make much use of it - though I'm sure I will get it at some point if only for the loops that come with it.
Comes down to the music you make and the tools you like to use the most.

Agreed. Less IS more. Unless you are totally dependent on the Komplete tools, I'd sell, get 1 or 2 great synths, like Zebra and Sylenth1 and call it a day.Machinate wrote:I can't produce without operator. And I am definitely digging Sampler, too - it's a modern classic.
I can, however, live without any of the komplete (4) I have the license for.
I'd sell. Less is more. Use money for hardware!
Of course, this opinion relies on the fact that I don't see myself ever using another DAW. If I did, then I might keep Komplete in order to have a great sampler like Kontakt and a drum sampler like Battery. But since I'm hooked on Live since v.3, I wouldn't buy Komplete. Live has all the tools I need, and the integration takes it to another level.

My guess is that you'll regret getting rid of Komplete. I agree that sometimes less is better. That is why I am a new convert to the newer Ableton instruments. Operator has to be the most intuitive synth I have worked with. FM8 is much harder IMO but can do more.
Sampler is much easier than Kontakt 3, but Kontakt 3 can do more.
I work some projects within Cubase 4, so the VST's are very useful.
I think you would regret lossing Massive and perhaps Absynth. Best to hold onto your products.
If I had to pick, I'd probably go with the NI because you never know if you will use a different DAW in the future. They are also more complex and extensive (which could be an asset as much as a hindrance).
It depends on how much you use the products and how much money you need. My guess is that you could accomplish anything you want with the Ableton Suite.
