You need duplication or replication?

If you need a small run, duplication is typically what you're going to get, which is just duplicated CD-Rs.

Replication is the process of making a glass master from a pre-master disc, which is then use to make 'real' CDs.

Can't recommend a replication/duplication house; but if you don't need inventory then you might consider disc-on-demand distribution. Discs are burned & shipped, & your customer billed when your title is ordered. Means you don't have to store them, ship them, or collect money. The disc-on-demand company handles all of that for a percentage. Leaves you time to focus on creating music, & promoting your work.

Maintaining inventory is best if you need a lot of discs as promo, or you are selling/giving them away at gigs, or if you are selling a lot of CDs.

Check out CreateSpace.com -they wrote the book on this distribution model. They started as a DVD-on-demand house for independent film makers; & now do CDs, DVDs, & books on demand.

Here is some info from their site:

"Make your title available to millions of customers on your E-Store, Amazon.com, & other channels."

"Keep your content rights. You set the list price & the amount you earn on every sale."

Plus set up is free :)

If you're not planning on releasing hundreds of discs but just small batches, you could buy a printer that prints onto printable cd-r media and do it yourself.

I just bought an HP photosmart c5280 all in one printer for 89 dollars on sale which can do this, and the print looks pretty good on the CD and with some glossy photo paper you can create a basic 2 page colour insert, print onto disc (inc. colour graphics) and CD tray (if you're making a jewel case) quite easily, just need some cheap software such as Acoustica's CD/DVD labelmaker (29 dollars) and some scissors and some inkjet printable cd-r media (the matte white ones work best I find if you are printing graphics, the metallic finish ones only work for text printing) !

You will get way better deals on that volume of discs.

Now the hard part is selling them ! Good Luck though, seriously :)
