Akai MPD32 Note Repeat problem - Workaround Solution

Post by bickle » Mon Jul 21, 2008 3:59 pm

It would appear MPD32 Note Repeat and Live do not sync correctly, here is my workaround solution

>Do not sync MPD and Live
>Set both MPD and Live to the same tempo
>Launch MPD Note Repeat by holding down a pad
>Press Play in Live manually in time with MPD Note Repeat
>Record when ready
>Quantize if necessary

I know this sounds a little primitive but it actually works quite well in practice and most importantly allows notes, channel pressure and swing to be recorded in real time.

I just discovered midi clock sync delay in Lives preferences. Adjusting this parameter allows Live to sync with MPD32 note repeat. I can only get it to work running Live as a slave.

In Live's midi preferences turn the small arrow to the left of the MPD32 Midi Port input. You will see sync delay drop down.

The note repeat will have to be triggered along with a quantized sound from Lives sequencer in oder to hear how much adjustment is required.

Can't believe I haven't noticed this before or read about it on this forum.

Please ignore my previous message.
