anyone got a virus c vst control plugin to work in live?
anyone got a virus c vst control plugin to work in live?
I have tried everything i can get my hands on and they are all rubbish.
I've used the rekon one, it looks nice but crashes live.
i also tried midi quest but that crashes live too.
has anyone had success with this stuff? would be great to put my c to good use like this.

Too bad, you're on PC I'm thinking... I've been tempted by the MIDI Quest plug in but it's VST only, so it would only work in Live, and I use Logic sometimes too, soon to switch to DP6 I think, and that's Audio Unit Only as well...queglay wrote:I have tried everything i can get my hands on and they are all rubbish.

So I guess at least PCs offer more DAWs with VST to crash these plug in on.

Ive controlled the Vst midi virus creating a new midi1 tractk routed to the virus (1) track and that works, if you want to control part2, then create a second track midi(2) routed to virus (2) ect...
also here im speaking about the virus powercore...
the very boring pb with virus is that it doesn't handdle correctly pgm changes...
cheers

Hi, To do this you need SoundDiver (Emagic or the *VirusC one) and a multicliënt midi interface. First open SoundDiver and connect it with your VirusC (you only have to do this one time). Then click on - (minus) to let SoundDiver disapear. Open Live or Cubase or whatever, now you can use sounddiver as a kind of VST, let your song play, edit your VirusC at the same time.(toggle between Live and soundDiver)
I was so stupid to buy the Rekon VST but it doesn't work and your money is gone. This works a 100%.

if you read the support section of the Rekon Audio site it explains that it doesn't work with Live... iirc it's because of the way Live handles midi polypressure.
i hate Sounddiver and will go to any lengths to avoid using it... i'd rather edit my C the old way than use that steaming puddle of ugly

soundiver is rubbish for me. very unstable and unfriendly. and i can't stand looking at it.

Hi, I have to admit it looks a bit Spartan, but here it is rock stable. The only reason it doesn't work I can think of is your midi interface. A lot of midi interfaces have a problem with big streams of sysex info and can't handle it (specially the ones in audio-interfaces/sound-cards!). I use the Steinberg *Midex8 who is multi-client (can work with more programs/instruments on the same midi-channel at the same time) and can handle those sysex streams. When you buy a other program (if it's there) to edit your VirusC you will experience the same unstable problems, because of the midi interface!

*The inside of the midex8 is a invention of the designers of ACCES (the people behind the Virus).
