Creating tracks withing a finished song

Post by jam4jah » Tue Aug 05, 2008 5:01 pm

Is it possible to create tracks within a finished song before exporting to wav or mp3? I want to create 2 minute or 5 minute tracks or even better, tag certain sections within the song as different tracks so I can search those sections within that song via FFwd or Rwnd. Kind of like a live concernt album recording...it is one seamless flow of audio from beginning to end but every song is the start of a new track. Is it possible?

Thanks!

This has been asked quite a lot of times, mostly in regard to mixtapes / mix cds.

There is no way in Live to make track markers and export them to a .cue file, however your favorite sound editor should be able to do that.

A way round is to use the brace in arrangement view, fit it to the first part, export, fit it to the second.... sounds like much work, in fact it's a pretty fast way.

Oh and then burn the disc "at once" and set the gaps between the tracks to 0 seconds (in your cd burning application).

Thanks nbinder! I'll see what I can do with that.
