Live 8?

Post by infiniteB » Wed Aug 06, 2008 2:10 pm

I think I remember some rumor that this month Live 8 might be announced. Is August/September usually when the "next Live" is announced? Is it usually on an annual schedule, or is this just pure specualtion? Just looking forward to it... Thanks...

4,5 and 6 were all going into beta during the summer. 7 went to beta last fall and wasn't released until november or december. So it hasn't been out for a year yet. I strongly doubt 8 is in the pipeline.

Besides - and I've never said this before - 7 needs to get stable. Please. Never had as many crashes as with 7.09.

Agreed. The last two patches have introduced more instability into Live than I've experienced in a long time.

Besides the emotional frenzy that accompanies update mania is so malignant to the creative process. Every 2.5 years would be fine for me....(assuming that versions are stable and no OS surprises that render things obsolete)

I certainly hope that Live 8 doesn't come out soon. I just got Live Suite 7 two days ago!

I stayed with live 7.05 since it worked stable so far.

Sure we do. Just don't like to talk about all the new features.

Things are kinda slow this year. Usually Cakewalk has said something about a newer version of Sonar, but it's quiet over at Cake's forums too.

I'm still learing my way around Live Suite. I'm in no rush, but I am a little curious about what new features are in store for Live 8.

Agreed - make it every 2 years. And make sure it works, the beta testing was only late September - mid November on Live 7. Spend a year putting in the new features and at least 6 solid months of testing it before public beta. Cubase and Logic are more like every 3 years before an update.

I love live 7, but it only seems like yesterday since this was released.

And usually, unless you buy within 30 days on an update, you don't get a free upgrade to the next level. Or at least until Ableton announce it, they haven;t announced it yet, so your Live 7 Suite will not be updated free to 8. I don't know if Ableton will even want to repeat a later year launch, they missed September last year and did not have the capacity to process all the orders in late November / early December for the Christmas rush, manual printing machine broke, orders went missing, etc etc. Better to wait until February or March or so when the insanity of Christmas shopping is done.

v7 felt rushed...I hope the Abes take their time with this one. I'm still occasionally finding new features in v7 still.....just discovered "Copy to Siblings" yesterday! 8)

are you mac guys on leopard?

never had any stability problems with any update of Live7... might that be because I am on Tiger? :?

Thinking about upgrading to leopard, but I don´t need the instability :)
