Ableton's EQ Three vs WHAT?
Ableton's EQ Three vs WHAT?
I am a bit skeptical about Ableton's EQ Three plug-in in a DJ situation.
It's a bit weird that the 0db is almost at the right end of the rotary button.
I'm using Ableton Live for djing mostly, I am a bit more used to a regular-type dj mixer.
The question is... what other plug-in could I use as for bass/mid/high EQ? One that's got the 0db right in the middle?
Anything, free, cheap or expensive. thanks alot.

May want to give this one a shot:

Still not quite *perfect* but the closest ive found so far. It centers the zero automatically. I had to tweak the frequencies a bit to get it closer to how a real dj mixer feels, plus I changed the range in ableton so it would cut at about -32 instead of -96. The latter just felt to drastic.
Overall, the ableton 3 band just never sounded right to me, not to mention it makes my peaks go crazy (not sure if it is some sort of phase distortion causing that or what, but even at zero the ableton 3 band sends peaks higher than normal.) Ive never tried the other plugin mentioned though, mainly becasue I would rather not use pluggo stuff if it can be avoided. Props to those guys for coming up with a more dj friendly eq using it though.

I also have that problem. Just after i drop EQ three on a track (3 bands in 0 db) the peaks go crazy, with some tracks i get aprox 6db louder. This really sucks.Donnie wrote:May want to give this one a shot:

I've tried the pluggo one under windows, and it sounds a lot better than EQ three, but i'll keep looking for a good dj EQ alone, not in a package.
I prefer to route audio tracks through firebox and mix in a DJ mixer, but sometimes i will like to EQ in live so i can filter loops of a turntable thats going through live and then to the mixer or things like that.
LSS Dj EQ ? I've been using this for the last two weeks and works great...

+1 - I'm using this, very nice - You'll need to get the pluggo runtime from cycling 74 as well.Atomikat wrote:LSS Dj EQ ? I've been using this for the last two weeks and works great...
