arrows mode to select clips, how to enable???

Post by bennid » Sun Aug 17, 2008 2:02 pm

Hi,
I'm trying to use arrows with midi stroke to select clip (and enter to record and backspace to erase...), pressing my midi controler.
But when I use effects or browser, it's not activated anymore, cos arrows allows you to explore effect rack or folder browsing.
I get midi control to track but it's not enough to enable arrows choosing the clips...tracks stay grey and not yellow.
does it exist a computer's keyboard to change between browser, effect and clip mode?
Or does it exist a midi way to make the mouse clic on the clip session window?

Thanks a lot
Ben

I believe it was alt-arrow that lets you switch between the different panes of the live GUI. Try it, you probably need to programm a shortcut for three times alt-arrow-up which always will bring you back safely into the clip-matrix of session view.

too many alt+up's will get you to the track header. so you should follow them with a single alt+down, which will bring you to the clip grid

Or simply have it send a "Tab" keystroke twice.
thisshifts focus straight back to Clip grid

Thx for this trick, it 's really helpfull, i just have to configure my fcb to send twice the same control on push and release;

Thx a lot one more time,

P.S.:any idea to shortcut the inputs and outputs in the track?

If u mean u want a shortcut for showing the io section its CTRL+ALT+I

No shortcuts to change routing that I know of.
Unless u start making up an AutoHotkey script or something similar but that is complex and won't necessarily work for all controls in Live's screen.
You would need to test it LOTS before trusting it.
