How to wait for midi message to launch clip?

Post by unitard » Fri Sep 05, 2008 3:52 pm

Hi all,

I would like to have specific clips not automatically launch in session view when the scene is launched but instead wait for a midi controller to launch the clip. Is this possible in Live? I feel like I'm overlooking some little parameter. Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks,
JT

You can de-activate a clip before launching the scene but you would then obviously have to re-activate the clip to launch it.
..?

put the clips you do not want to launch in another scene.
You can trigger the top scene and activate the other clip(s) with midi controllers.

Or if you just want to launch scenes:
put the clips in you do not want to launch directly in the scene below the rest.
Remove the stop buttons on the bottom scene for all channels that are launched initially.
Trigger the bottom scene, the old prior clips will continue playing as will the new clip(s).

Or put all clips in the second scene and make sure they fire in legato mode.

Or put all in one scene and play all. Mute the channels that you don't want to hear (can't quantize that)
