Hello...
I just wanted to clear something up about the AUTO monitor function on a midi track..
So I create a midi track, set monitor to AUTO, I've switched off OVR (because I dont need it on), I arm the track, and start the transport...
Now If I record some notes into a clip, and then play that clip back, I was under the impression that because the clip is playing and monitor is set to AUTO that any additional midi notes played into that track on my keyboard or from another midi source would not get passed through. This is NOT the case... additional midi notes played (although not recorded because OVR is off) are getting through to the recieveing instrument along with the midi data from the clip..... Is that supposed to happen?
What I'm doing is Ive got a midi sequencer playing notes into a midi track and I want to record snippets of the midi data. When Im done recording I want to immediatly play that clip back and block off the midi info coming from the midi sequencer because it will sound very messy otherwise.
Ive had Live for a few years now, but never really needed to do this untill now, but I was kinda expecting the behaviour of the AUTO monitor function of an Audio track. Where when a clip is playing on an armed audio track and AUTO monitor is on, that no external audio input would get through.
If someone could clear this up for me it would be great. BTW I'm still on live 6.0.10.
Thanks Matt
