Sync my MacBook Pro with my Mac Pro?

Hi Guys,

Hopefully someone here can help me out or point me in the right direction.

I was watching Hawtins Setup video and he syncs two MacBook Pro's together to run effects with one and his Traktor software with the other.

Firstly, do you know how to sync two machines - Second, would this work the same as if say I wanted to run Live and Logic Pro on my MacBook Pro and all my synths/effects on my Mac Pro?

How would it work? How would I select what Synth I want to use and load it into Logic/Ableton as an instrument?
