There's a play button in each pad.

He might be talking about hot swapping so he can hear it being played in the song which you can do by turning on the circle with the arrows icon for each pad, but in my experience Live is really slow at hot swapping samples.

bottom line is no.
You can't preview, but like beats me said, you can "hotswap" to your hearts content.
The only problem is that depending your drum samples, your computer, etc... it can be extremely slow. ...gotta love it.

But what is Live's hang up? when I make beats in idrum I can swap samples all night long that are in the same folder and it happens almost instantaniously. Is it because the music gnomes in Live have to build a new simpler every time you swap samples?
